On this day I went to visit the Utstein Kloister.  This was an ancient monastery on an island north of Stavanger called Hanasand.  The area around Utstein Kloister was very beautiful and rural so it was a nice drive.  A very cool part of this trip was using a tunnel they have built to the island which goes under the sea.  It is over 5 kilometers long.  The first half of the tunnel goes straight down and then the last half goes straight up. Just knowing I was so far under the sea made it very creepy!

The tunnel exit, a happy site after being under the sea!      A beautiful farm house on the way to the Kloister.

I thought this was a very pretty door, you could just feel how old it was.

The countryside in the area

On leaving, I had to stop and wait for about 20 sheep to get out of the road.  One small one wouldn't let the others off, he kept head butting them and knocking them back onto the road.  It was so funny, I really enjoyed watching it.

Then I went about a half mile down the road and ran into the cow procession pictured above.  I haven't had to stop my car for a line of dairy cows since I left Adair County, Oklahoma!
