Eirik took me to a lake in Sandness called Lutsi for a beautiful kayak trip.  It was so great - very quiet and peaceful - and good exercise too!  We paddled for two hours with a snack break in the middle, then headed to Sandness to a very nice restaurant by the water.  The whole thing was really a wonderful experience.

I arrived home at 10 pm, but since it was still daylight I decided to take a walk downtown.  The opening ceremony for the Phillips Open Sand Volleyball tournament had taken place from 7-9, so there were lots of people in town.  And I mean lots!  I would guess there was maybe 800 people all sitting outside at the bars and restaurants along the harbor.  At 10:00 on a Tuesday night!  This is just amazing, especially to someone like me who has spent many years in Bartlesville.

I was lucky enough to run into a group of people on the waterfront that I know.  It was the Phillips PR group who are doing much of the work in putting on the volleyball tournament.  Their names are:  Ingvar Solberg, Kurt Michelsen, and Elisabeth Huse.  They invited me to join them and we had so much fun!  We had a really nice visit and then went out for an Irish Coffee and visited some more.  I finally got home at 2 am!  It made me sad that I was not getting the day off for the 4th of July Holiday since I really needed the extra sleep!

Here are some pictures that Eirik very kindly took of me on the kayak trip - notice I'm smiling in every shot, it was a lot of fun!

Going through the remains of an old bridge

You should have seen this beautiful swan.  It was gliding all around in the area, looking beautiful and ignoring us.
Looks like someone pigged out on junk food and crashed in the sun!
