Destin - 23rd Anniversary Trip
April 2017

April 9th was our 23rd wedding anniversary so we decided to take a trip to celebrate this year.  We had good memories of Destin after a trip there many years ago for our friend Amy's wedding.  We decided to return to the same resort we visited then so we could enjoy the sugar-sand beaches again.

Rocket tries his passive-agressive method of keeping us home by blocking
our efforts to pack a suitcase.
Our first views from the balcony of our room.

Our anniversary breakfast, and it was a good one.  I love breakfast out, so
this trip started out great for me.

The resort included a heated pool, hot tub, and free bicycles.

Walking on the beach behind our hotel, admiring the super clear water and white sand.

Walking around the tourist area, we saw this Heron hanging out on a boat.

Eric is out on the jetty, finding out what everyone was catching
A nice man took this for us, and gave us lots of advice when he heard it was
only our 23rd anniversary.  In his view, we were just barely getting started!

Long, tall Casazza shadows The next day after church we borrowed a couple of the free bikes for a tour of the area.
It included a tour of a mansion that was having an Open House.  It was fun.

Our last day included a long walk on Oklaoosa Island, where we had the place mostly
to ourselves.

Here we are after one of many lovely meals near the water.

Next we visited the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park.  First stop, sea turtles. The dolphins were the highlight of this park, for sure.

Fun scenes from the dolphin show

Back in Destin for another amazing meal by the ocean Then we were off for a walk in another part of the beach

On the way back we stopped to admire some baby ducks being very closely watched
 by a good momma.

Our last sunset at the beach, next stop, the real world.  Thankfully that's a good place too.
