This month started out fun for me.  A nationally famous quilter visited our guild meeting in the
Flathead.  Krista Moser gave a very inspiring talk and put on a beautiful trunk show.

She designed that ruler in her hand and has designed many, many creative quilt patterns.

I tried to limit myself to just a few pictures of some of my favorites.

These are a bit challenging to make because of the angles, but so beautiful!

All month we thought it would be the last time we got to play the pebble game, but the ditch
stayed on for the entire month of October this year.
Sunshine makes them ease up on the enforcement of their personal space.

I accidentally took this beautiful picture - the sky is actually a reflection in the water.   The mules moving over to Dan's property one beautiful evening.

And here they are, lounging on a hillside on another day.  There were SO many salmon trapped in the hillbilly hot tub this year!

A face that I love.   Lily fell asleep in my sewing chair and nearly fell off it during her nap!

This face - this is how he ends up going along on nearly every trip to town, getting treats he
shouldn't have, and forcing me to take walks I didn't want to take.  It's that look right there.
Because of the salmon, we had about two weeks of crazy numbers of eagles in the area.
I think we had at least 12 one day.  Here are three of them that flew out of a tree when
Buddy & I went too close.

The inlet with fall colors going on.   Had to stop in the middle of an e-Bike ride to take a picture of his cuteness.

Some of the many swans that hang out at the north end of the lake.   Buddy, having deep thoughts and contemplating the fall beauty.

Here is an update on the parking lot project at the lodge.  Larry & Eric spent an entire afternoon
spreading grass seed and flaking hay all over the hillside in hopes of getting some grass to grow.

Of course, the town turkeys immediately set about scratching the hay into piles and eating the seed.

Here are the new spots on the east side of the road.  We've added concrete car stops since then.

This shows how the new spots relate to the lodge.  A bit of a walk, but better than what we
had before!
This shows the new spots that have been added over the cliff.  The trees mark where the cliff
used to end.  This area later got signs and concrete parking stops added to it as well.

A look at Lodge Bluff Homes - all four units fully occupied!  Eric's dream is now a reality.

Did I mention that I'm a sucker for this face?  Probably so.

A newspaper photo of one of Aubrey's volleyball games captured Amy,
Jeb (partially, behind the ball), Dan, and Eric - who was very excited.

This one captured an even bigger family portrait.  First, Aubrey is player #1 at the far right.
Then in the upper stands you'll see Eric (again looking thrilled to be there), me, Jeb & Madison
over my shoulder (Madison was getting a neck rub that we all envied), Amy, Rose, Dan, and Uncle Tim.

The longhorns on a beautiful morning.

The sky showing off while the longhorns made us feel sleepy.

The mules had a brief time when they were allowed on our side of the lake.
Here they are posing in the golden evening light.

If you stand still for a minute, Sweet Pea will be licking you.  She is so cute.   These two are so curious about each other, yet so afraid at the same time.

The mules decided to run along the lake road which caused the longhorns to run too.   They sure are nice to look at.

I always love it when the Canadian Rockies are visible.

Looking toward town from our driveway.
I need to enjoy the fall colors before
 everything turns white!

The mules grazing while the inversion stalks us. Now the inversion is upon us, boo!!  When Josh built me that bridge, he told me he was going
to build it sturdy enough to hold stock - I saw 3 mules on it at once that day, Josh was right!

The swans are shy so it's hard to get a good picture of them.    Accidental panoramic shot.

Eric, joining me & Buddy on a walk. The fall colors are SO beautiful right now!

Here an eagle perches directly above the trapped salmon, waiting until he
feels hungry again.
Now Buddy approaches below the eagle, a little close for my comfort.
Good thing the eagle has all-he-can-eat fish right now!

This pretty apple tree is still covered in tasty apples but we're too lazy
to do anything with them.
Normally, TV time is Buddy time.  For some reason on this night, both cats decided they
wanted in on it.  Buddy was not pleased.

This is how TV time usually works.  We are besotted with that dog.

I got to take a trip to Seely Lake, 3 hours from Eureka, to attend a fabric sale with my fellow
Eureka guild members.  It's a beautiful area.

This lady had incredible amounts of fabric when she passed away.  Her
husband has held sale after sale to try to clear out the space.  We had a group
of 14 ladies who all bought several boxes each and it didn't make a dent!

I'm soaking up the blue skies before winter comes and turns them all to gray.  Gorgeous!!

Unfortunately, the mules went walkabout from our side of the lake one night.  Dan had just gotten
home from a 4-day hunting trip and was NOT pleased to be out chasing mules in the dark.

Here Eric, Tracie, and Dan fix the problem while I sit in the car to cheer them on.

We enjoyed a very nice evening with our friends Jay & Heather one evening which included a
lovely walk followed by dinner.

More swans, I never get tired of them.  They are HUGE birds.

We had a huge lightening storm one night, a once-a-year kind of storm.  Our local professional
photographer Keith Taylor captured this stunning photo of it.

Me showing my quilt "Nativity" at the Eureka guild meeting.

Photos from home - Dad & Mom going to a Cherokee Nation event.
They are wearing Native-style clothing designed and decorated by Mom.
Dad & Brodie, comparing heights again.  He seems to grow an inch every few months!

Mom, snuggling her 13-year old "baby".   Mom sent Eric this beaded hummingbird in honor of Millie, the bird he
tried to rescue this summer.

Rough grouse, well camouflaged.

Some trail cam photos.  Tons of coyote, nearly zero deer because of the blue tongue disease
that has killed so many of them.

Wild mountain beast, on the hunt.   Two coyotes playing.  There was a third one off to the side.

About three minutes later these two went by.  I wondered if it's the parents following their 3 pups.

This one seems to look right at the camera.

And this is an amazing shot.  At 4:45 in the morning, with coyotes everywhere, this house cat
walks by - a mile from anyone's house.  I have no idea who owns this cat. I wish it well.

After the Krista Moser talk early in the month, I was inspired to try one of her patterns.
It was a challenge, but so beautiful!  It's called, "Crimson Christmas".

This is another quilt that I thought turned out very nice.  It's another homage to Milly.

In mid-October, Carter went to Oklahoma to visit Brodie.  Eric made it happen
by being his escort and driver.  They had a weather delay in Salt Lake City
that resulted in a 24-hour delay.  The boys made the best of it by visiting the
SLC Natural History Museum, the IMAX theater, and more.

A day late but moving fast, the boys finally get to start their
week of fishing.  Thankfully the weather was perfect - mid 80's.

A little Mexican pop to fuel the fishing machines.

A stop at Bass Pro to stock up on fishing supplies.

  Fun with perspective.

They fished all over the area.

This is how Carter does car trips.

I asked for a picture of these three amigos and they kindly obliged.  I love it!

Carter says, "Fishing with PePaw was so fun.  I could fish with him every day!"

Also during fall break, Mom & Desirae took a quick trip to Branson.
Here they're at a fun place called, "Beyond the Lens" getting some fun photos.
