EMQS - Eureka Montana Quilt
Show August 3, 2024 |
|
This is my 3rd year as chairman of the EMQS
Committee. No one besides the founder has ever lasted more than 2
years as chairman before, but I have a secret weapon - a super-supportive
team and family! Our committee's goal is to make the hard work of
putting on the show as fun as possible, they are such a great group.
And each year my friends and family come out to help save the
day. |
|
Mom flew up to help me last year, but this year she couldn't come so she sent me some encouragement by way of these beautiful flowers. |
Early morning on show day, Eric & Larry were out doing the highest ladder work. |
The show is underway! It's usually blazing hot but this year we had
overcast skies, cool temps, and rain showers several times. (Which was heart-stopping for me, but cooling for the visitors.) |
The Miniature Quilt display area |
Our Historical Village looks so nice all covered in quilts.
And the quilts go on all the way up main street. I think it was 542 total quilts in this years' show. | We get so many wonderful volunteers who come out to help hang and take down
the quilts, and the town's businesses are also very supportive. It's one of the biggest tourist events in Eureka! |
Our special Veteran quilt display at Veteran's Memorial Park. These
quilts are donated to the PTSD ward of the nearest VA hospital after the show. |
|
The boutique, our store where the quilters can sell smaller items. |
|
My team works hard to make sure I don't have do to so much on show day, but here was a brief moment where I worked the Sales table. |
|
Because there's no such thing as too many pictures of quilts...
Next is a series of me, trying to get a picture with most of my 20+ quilts
in the show. |
|
Spirited Horse | Summer Breeze. This started life as a queen quilt, but I had an
accident when quilting it which damaged the edge, so I had to cut the edges off and remake it as a smaller quilt. It has a wonderful feel to it. |
Watercolor Braid | Neon Stars - I had just finished this one and it sold, I didn't get to look at it for long! |
This was my contribution to the donated veteran's quilts. | Cedarcrest Falls |
Flowers of Eventide | Flannel Farm Baby - it sold to one of my friends, always a compliment! |
Native Horse | Civil War Baby |
Evening Stroll | This is another one I just finished in time for the show. The blocks
were from an Estate Sale. I trimmed them and set them and put a ton of work into the quilting, but it turned out so beautiful in person. |
Interlocked on the left, and Peek-a-Moose on the right. Rose
bought Peek-a-Moose for Braden, |
|
Blooming Star, I didn't piece this one, I just quilted it.
Moose Sighting |
|
Mountain Getaway - a modern quilt, not my usual thing.
Modern Mountains, more of my dabbling into modern quilts. | Vintage Reds - Vintage fabrics were donated to our guild after the passing of a local quilter. The red and floral fabric were from that gift. |
Sweetly Stiched Mystery - this quilt was made at a 2-day retreat with my Eureka friends. It was a murder mystery event and a quilt workshop. |
Superbloom - One of two experiments I made with using giant panels. |
Stonehenge Brown |
|
The top quilt there was another project with my Eureka friends. It was a Block of the Month project with the Scraps 'n Threads quilt guild. I quilted the heck out of that thing, it turned out nice. |
