Glacier Park
June 10 & 11, 2024

Our favorite Glacier Park activity is during the short time each year when the park is closed to cars and we can ride our bikes on Going to the Sun road.  This year we managed to get camping spots at Fish Creek Campground inside the park during bike riding season - score!

All good trips start with pebbles thrown into shallow water.  Something up there is really interesting.

Amy, Buddy, and I on a walk around the Fish Creek trails. We enjoyed a visit from Myla, Caleb, and Katie for the evening.

Can't beat the views!  Myla didn't care for the cold water though!

Gathering firewood in the park is expressly forbidden.  Jeb believes that if you're going to break
the rules, go big.
Amy is enjoying holding Myla too much to eat her dinner.

Postprandial walk around the campground.

Jeb's excessive contraband log did it's job.

Next day we're off to for adventure on our bikes.  Buddy isn't allowed,
so we had to leave him in the camper.  Sadness!
June is the most beautiful time in the park.  (When it isn't miserable &
cold & rainy, which it often is in June!)

Jeb said we'd stop a lot for pictures, but Eric & Amy got tired of all the stopping pretty fast.
I had to be quick with the camera!

There's always pointing when the Casazzas are together.  Jeb, being a good sport for me & my camera.

The mountains are so much more impressive from a bike than in a car.  It was a perfect day for our ride!

Larry, Jeb, & Amy

It was Larry's first Glacier Park bike ride, but surely not his last!

  Haystack falls (I think?!)

Pausing for a breather at The Loop.

I did not doctor these photos, it's truly that beautiful.

There was a great picnic spot about 1/4 mile past this spot where we
wanted to have lunch, but these bears had another idea.
Check out this video of the baby bear sliding down the snow bank!!

The bikers on the other side are not part of our group!    We had lunch while sitting on the guardrail, waiting for them to move along.  Finally they
 decided to move along.

Team Casazza!

I never understand why they stop us here, you can see for miles and there's no snow on the road,
but rules are rules.  At least they let us go this far!

Fun fact - my brakes on my bike failed when we started to head down so Eric traded me bikes.
He rode down the huge descent with only front brakes!

Because riding up GTTS road wasn't hard enough, Larry needed some push-ups.

Back at the bottom.  Hat head!

Jeb's eBike battery died so he got a tow from Amy, then Eric on the way out.

Changing tow people.  Holding it in his hand was safe, but he & Eric decided to tie the bikes together!

Debating whether or not they'd make it through this experiment with no broken bones. They did!
