Desirae & Brodie Visit!
June 24 - 29, 2024

The last time my sister visited Montana was in about 1996, so it had been awhile!  I was so excited to welcome her and Brodie for a few days of visiting.  They found it a little chilly, but overall we had great weather.  So much fun was packed into a few days!

Sisters!

After picking them up at the airport, we made a brief visit to the lower part of Glacier Park.

Checking out the crystal clear water.

It COLD water too!  The waters were still running high.

Now we've made it to our ranch, where Brodie is playing Buddy's favorite pebble game.

This is what Brodie did for the rest of the trip.

It's a tie!  It was then anyway, Brodie outgrew him by November 2024!

Me & Desirae had to throw pebbles so Brodie could fish.   He caught SO MANY fish!

Brodie was nice and threw a few more pebbles. Now we've picked up Carter and we're trying fly fishing in the Tobacco River.

Unfortunately we only had one fly pole, so there was a lot of waiting.

Back at Costich where everybody has a pole.

One of MANY fish.  These two boys are BFFs, both of them are passionate fishermen.

Brodie helped Carter with rigging his pole and getting the fish off.

  Nice one!

Artistic shot of Buddy supervising the boys fishing.

  Another great one.

Sore thumbs already and it's only the second day!

The boys took a break from fishing for an epic water weenie battle.  Brodie had him in reach, but Carter has 4 older brothers so he knew to aim for the privates!
That was the hardest I laughed all summer.

It's so fun to watch these two together.   These boys fished into the evening and from the early morning every day.

Stopping at the giant fishing pole in town after a trip to the discount tackle store.

There was a family event at Glen Lake, so the boys got to try a new lake.

  Bryce & Desirae getting acquainted.

Brodie taking off in a very tipsy kayak.  We thought for sure he was going to flip it.

Now it's Carter's turn.  Brodie "helps" him with a little poke from a stick.

Topo Chico Man made an appearance.  He's a living commercial for the stuff.

Our cats don't like to be held, and they've never been held turned upside down like this.
They got a LOT of practice with it while Brodie was with us!

This day was cold and SO windy, but it didn't stop those boys from wanting to fish.

They wanted to try the other end of the lake near the dam.

Yep, there are fish in this end too!

Carter wasn't catching anything so Brodie said, "Let me adjust your rig a bit."  On his
very next cast he caught a big one!

Brodie helps him get it off the hook.

   And another one!

It was freezing cold, but Brodie got one of Eric's lures caught so he waded in up to his
waist to get it out of the lake.  That crazy boy!

NOW that he's soaked, he's finally ready to go in the house to warm up.

Warming up with hot chocolate and kitty snuggles.

Desirae managed to get some lovin' from Buddy, actually it was the other way around!

It warmed up that afternoon which was great because we had a fly fishing class scheduled.  I wish those boys enjoyed school as much as they enjoyed learning fly fishing!!

Jon Hagedorn of Family Lines fishing ministry gave us an excellent class.  At the town's "Kid Fishing Pond" - which is also a favorite spot for the local Osprey.
The boys kept fishing for another 2 hours after class was over, but Jon didn't have the
heart to tell them that class was long over.

Desirae even got in on the action and caught one.

Jon showing Brodie different weights of poles and lines.

Finally they started to get hungry & thirsty enough to draw their attention away from fishing!    Jon's fish wagon, it's so cute!

It was a great day, thank you Jon!   Later that evening, the boys enjoyed a campfire and night fishing with Uncle Eric and Larry.

These two really never get tired of fishing.

  Supervision.

Heading to the airport, we had to stop and get some coffee at The Gathering Place.  And a little roughhousing!

Brodie grew so much this year!
